Thanks for the link. I enjoyed looking at all the cool gadgets. You have worked hard! I tried posting on the wall. I couldn't find a save button. When I clicked on the help it said it would save it. I have no idea, but I'm off to wallwisher.com. I'm sitting in Yorktown, VA:)

I went to Wallwisher and created a wall. They sent it to my email. How do I get it on my wiki, like you did? I can't find an embed code. Would you also tell me where you got Superman? Thanks for you help! Cindy

The wallwisher site does have the html code on it……just search around and you will find it…..I think it's something like share this or embed code, and the Superman is cool frame overlay that I picked up at fototrix.com there are other sites for this type of thing as well. I had to first create the wordle and then save it to my desktop (or wherever you choose) and then upload it on the fototrix site …..voila the new picture is created with the wordle in the background, you can then copy that picture and upload it on your pbworks wiki then insert it on the page of choice…..:) hope this helps!

Cindy, I forgot to say that I did not have to have the wordle sent to my email, I had the choice at the time of the creation to share it on a website which allowed me to immediately pick up the embed code and plug it into my wiki site

Okay Cindy…..just went back to wallwisher and found that you must save it first to the public gallery, after you do that the html will pop up at the bottom of the page so that you can then copy the code and paste it into your wiki.

I love the "Welcome" animation and the Wall Wisher! I'm definitely going to put the map on my site too! The kids will love seeing the locations of our visitors! Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE your site. How did you get the popups with the pointer arrows on your worksheet…..jing takes a screenshot but doesn't have the pointer option. Anyway I hope the Colorado dot shows up. I left a message on meebo. I wish I could read Greek! My best friend Dora Briegleb is from Greece, if ever you are in Boulder please stay with me! I am from England, but currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada. I taught English in Greece for three years before I came here. I thoroughly enjoyed Greek food, Greek traditional dancing, the beaches, and more!

I thank you for the Wallwisher. I embedded the code on my site and then got started on one of my own. So easy, compared to the last embed I attempted. Of course, then I had to come back and link to your site before some more of your net candy captured my focus.

I have learned so much and really spend way too much time on this…..Thank goodness for summer when school is not in session and I can devote some time to this. I can't imagine doing this during the school year! I hope the dots on the visits show up!

As you can tell from the revisions and history, I started this (Just naming the site) the first of June. I started the work on it as camp started. Thank goodness for summer vacation for it would have been impossible to put this kind of work into creating this during the time when school is in session. It really does take a lot of initial work and one has to devote many many hours to the set up so that it will be a working site.

What a wonderful site - evidence of a lot of work, thought, and creativity! I'm going to look at some of the web 2,0 sites you have used. thanks!
Is this a practice site where you have practiced what you've learned this past month or one you plan to use with students? if the latter, it would be better organized over several pages since you could lose students who would be sidetracked as they scrolled down - sampling all the goodies you have sprinkled along the trail.

It started out as a practice and a site that will be used for connecting with other teachers in the district …..it grew from there…it was like building a house and furnishing it, then taking all the furniture out and slowly putting it all back in…..to different rooms where it fit a little better. I think I now have a better working site that may be ready to launch when we return to school. Looks great... there is so much information and you have used many of the neat tools :) I would suggest that you break it up into several pages. With people reading online, they often have a tendency to skim long pages.

Hi,
I am from Cairo - Egypt and at your request I am visiting your site. There is so much work and time invested in this and is highly interactive as you have used many tools. I certainly will make a point of referring friends interested in wikis to your page. As per your request about our comments from this part of the world a student would be slightly overwhelmed with all the coll tools you have used and might need an in-class orientation as how to go about it. Hope that helps and good luck with all your work in Sept.

I saw your discussion board and thought I would try to create one for my wiki, thanks for inspiring me. I would avoid using underlining where there is no link. Best for students to relate underlined text to links. Step 2 on the page. I particularly like your navigation page (Navigating this wiki).

You have been a great teacher. This was actually kind of like building a house, then furnishing it…..then taking all of the furnishings and rearranging them so they fit better into the correct room! I hope the "open house" will inspire teachers to visit often and learn to use this wiki so that they will then want to build their own and invite others! Thank you so much for your help! It truly is a case of what one puts into something is what one will get out of it! I love what the late Dr. Randy Pauch (see his YouTube Last Lecture) says regarding the importance of experience and failure…..it is not wasted!

Thanks deborah, the beauty of the site is that everyone can add to it. We can all share valuable information and ideas with each other.......district wide, state wide, nationally, and internationally.....just go to any page......like the "additional information" page or the "assessment" page.......and you can click on the edit tab, since you have been given "writer permission" level. After you click on edit you can paste numerous interesting things or just add valuable information, you can paste web sites of interest or even drag and drop something from your desktop, or files onto the page. We can then all access information, assessments, etc. from each other! Enjoy!
